These days

I hardly sleep. My insomnia is killing me. There so much on the inside I want to spill out. I'll just share a few things.

I haven't had contact with my girl very much these past few days. I'm a clingy person. I put my all in her, and when I can't have conversation with her, I get majorly upset. Not angry, more of a depressed feeling. Which shouldn't happen. I feel bad for being a pest, and texting her alot. But I never get tired of letting her know how much I love her. I just want to tell her good morning and good night. Everything in between has been gone for a few days. I'm confused right now to wonder if she even cares, or she's just busy. Last night I stayed up until 5 AM wanting her to wake up in the middle of the night and call me for comfort or wondering what she's thinking about. Or even just imagining how beautiful she looks at that very moment. And then I break down and cry because I'm selfish and don't get my way. I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be... but I am. I feel so lonely and sick to my stomach. Before she left, I kept myself up for 4 nights worrying to death that something would happen in Dunlap that would make us grow further apart. If I could fix it. This morning my Step Mom came in and told me that we could go that way sometime this week. I told her I didn't want to. I was afraid to bother her. I understand that she's spending time with her family, I have absolutely no problem with that. I just want her to check in every once in a while and tell me about her day or ask me about mine.

Friends.

Everyone blogs about how they found out who their true friends were. Well this blog is a bit different. I have recently realized that I haven't been the true friend. I feel so urged to talk to my long time friends and apologize for leaving them out to dry. Something Tara said the other day made me realize, no matter how much I don't want to accept it, I need friends. All of them. How I will talk to them, I don't know. I just need to do it before it's too late.

Things that I've realized.

That I waited 17 years to find the right girl and it took me like a week to realize that she was right there. I realized I have been lazy and looked in the placed where its most possible for me to get let down over and over again. It feels good to finally be cared about and have mutual feelings with another person.

Another thing I've realized is that all these years, I could've lived with my dad and been extremely happy instead of living in a place where I was forced to be someone I'm not and treated like udder shit.

Shutter Island

shutter island Pictures, Images and Photos

It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

Wow. I don't think I can ask for a better movie to watch on the big screen. The movie left me just sitting in awe from the first second it came on. Every scene in the movie came together and left no loose ends. The biggest plus for me was the script provided for these 5 star actors to work with. By the time half the movie is over, I usually guess the twist, but in this one my jaw was on the floor and me beating my head saying "HOW DID I NOT GUESS THIS?" After the mishap with "The Box" I was timid on seeing any psychological thrillers for the next 5 years, but this has renewed my interest in movies.

Extract

Extract (2009) Pictures, Images and Photos

Joel, the owner of an extract manufacturing plant, constantly finds himself in precarious situations that steadily worsen by the minute. First, his soon-to-be floor manager acquires a serious injury in a machine malfunctioning accident that subsequently endangers the wellbeing of his company. Second, his personal life doesn't fair much better when he takes the advice of his bartending friend Dean during a drug-induced brainstorming session on how to test his wife's faithfulness. Finally, compounding these catastrophes is new employee Cindy, who happens to be a scam artist intent on milking the company for all its worth. Now, Joel must attempt to piece his company and his marriage back together all while trying to figure out what he's really after in life.

Quirky comedy starring the sexy Mila Kunis, what's not to like? Well they didn't really introduce the characters very well so I was sort of lost through half the movie but by the time it picked up I got a few laughs. I feel like the movie never really got anywhere. It basically just introduced a problem and then it ended. Then when they were in the house I kept seeing this huge black thing appear from the ceiling. It was the boom mic! Really guys? That's like 3rd grade. But I guess it was good seeing Jason Bateman in something other than Nickelodeon. Either way the storyline kinda failed. It was merely okay. The comedy wasn't good enough to outweigh the lack in a good plot and characters. Props to David Koeschner and Gene Simmons.

SLC Punk!

SLC Punk Pictures, Images and Photos

SLC Punk: Mocumentary/Comedy

Synopsis: Two punks live in Salt Lake City. The film covers their all-day routine. The realism of the character-narrated movie may be discussed. One of the punks gets ill, stays in hospital for three weeks, comes out again. Three parties are covered and one concert including a fight between punks, rednecks and others.
- IMDB

This movie exceeded my expectations. I usually write anything with Matthew Lillard off because of his atrocious performances in Scooby Doo and Without a Paddle which were both utter SHIT. SLC Punk! gave me a glimpse of the true side of Anarchy Punk in the 1980's. So much that it almost made me want to just quit being a normal kid and recreate the punk scene around here. The movie all around looked like fun to make. The party scenes were funny as hell. And the fights got me off my feet. Also Sean(Sawa), made me laugh out loud so hard that the water I was drinking went all over my clothes. "You're not God, you're Bob!" hahaha. I did find certain parts of the movie were just pointless crap that had nothing to do with anything. Maybe that was supposed to be funny. I don't know.
Anyways, I recommend this movie.

Funny People

Funny People Pictures, Images and Photos

Funny People: George(Adam Sandler) is a very successful stand up comedian who learns that he has an untreatable blood disorder and is given less than a year to live. Ira is a struggling up-and-coming stand up comedian who works at a deli and has yet to figure out his onstage persona. One night, these two perform at the same club and George takes notice of Ira(Seth Rogen). George hires Ira to be his semi-personal assistant as well as his friend.

My review:
I would like to start off by saying I went into watching this movie thinking it was strictly slapstick comedy like Adam Sandler and Seth Roger are known for. I was really not expecting the extremely depressing elements in this film that classifies it for me as a dramedy. The movie definitely kept me entertained I will say that. Some of the jokes gave me a good belly laugh, and Adam Sandler talking to the woman in the bar left me in stitches. But I kept wondering through the entire thing when the climax would start. Its almost like the movie was one big set up and no climax. The ending wasn't your normal Hollywood ending, it ended just on a odd note which is fine, I love movies like that. But I thought there would be more that needed to be done. Some of the side characters made me want to kill myself. Aziz Ansari, Jason Schwartzman, and Andy Dick's appearances weren't much of a let down because, they pretty much sucked in everything they were in anyways. I was just waiting for Paulie Shore to show up. But overall the bizarre humor of this movie left me with a good taste in my mouth.
7/10

"New Junk Aesthetic" by Every Time I Die

new junk aesthetic Pictures, Images and Photos

Wow. That's all I can say. Just Wow. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better than "The Big Dirty" boy was I wrong. The first thing I thought when I heard this was "this is almost like Hot Damn! and The Big Dirty into one album." It is the best album so far indeed. The songs like "Wanderlust" shows their Southern Rock heritage and they stay true to it. In others they add more harsh vocals to make a mathcore-esque sound. Its almost like Molly Hatchet meets Metalcore. Its actually a really diverse album. I was expecting this to be Every Time I Die's sell out album like Maylene and the Sons of Disasters latest well....disaster. So I can't be a douchebag on this one. But once again I was proved wrong. I can go on and on about this album and not run out of good things to say but I don't want to be a bore. 10/10 any day of the week. Every Time I Die is the most versatile metalcore band out there right now and this album proves it.

"The Dark Side of the Moon(cover)" by The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips - The Dark Side of the Moon Pictures, Images and Photos

I'm starting off my saying, I am not judging this album by anything The Flaming Lips has done in the past. I'm judging this album by itself.

(Track 1) Speak to Me/Breathe(feat. Henry Rollins):
Starts off with an interesting monologue and ends with an interesting sounding progressive feel to the guitars. The tempo of the song is way different that the original but I almost like the fast paced version better. The vocoder makes the vocals sound almost like a robotronic version of David Gilmour. I guess T-Pain needs to do this song next.

(Track 2) On The Run(feat. Henry Rollins):
Wow. This track is extremely stupid and pointless. The really retarded laughing is getting annoying as hell and the little guitar exerts are like 2 seconds long. I can't get over how I just wasted 3:55 seconds listening to some bullshit fake laughing. I guess I never really cared for the original anyways.

(Track 3) Time/Breathe:
The vocals in this track are brilliant. Its extremely slow getting started but by the time it picks up your going to enjoy it. Wayne Coyne's voice resembles Gilmour's voice a lot. But I don't feel the passion in this song, like the passion in the original.

(Track 4) The Great Gig in Sky(feat. Peaches and Henry Rollins):
Yeah just one thing...  WHAT THE HELL!
They completely ruined the backup vocals in the original by putting in atrocious autotuned screaming. Seriously way to ruin a completely great song. I just wonder if when The Flaming Lips listened back at this did they actually think that this was good? .... God.

(Track 5) Money(feat. Henry Rollins):
Well they got rid of the cash ringing noises and put in an even more annoying sound. I didn't really think it was possible. This song just reminds me as if R2-D2 and Tom Morello dropped some acid, did song together and then raped a Hyena.

(Track 6) Us and Them(feat. Henry Rollins):
The only decent cover on this CD so far. Maybe because its the only thing that sounds close to Pink Floyd and its not really supposed to. The background effects in this song aren't nearly as irritating as the other tracks and the organ in the back is actually easy on my tortured on my ears. Henry Rollins has to throw is 2 cents in there and say something really random which is funny. Because Henry Rollins is like the Chuck Norris of music.

(Track 7) Any Colour You Like:
2 consistent good tracks in a row! :O! They're using real drums instead of a little drum machine from Duran Duran's set?! :O! The guitars are almost Gilmour-esque with a cry baby effect. I like it. The little background vocals are harmonic with the music. So it actually fits with the music.

(Track 8) Brain Damage(feat. Henry Rollins):
Its listenable. That's about all I can really say. Except for the guitars in the back sound like the intro to Ghostbusters which bothered me. Around 3:19 they added some extra drum effects and a speaker screech like when you get too close to a speaker with a microphone. And then the end of the song I screamed and almost shit my pants when I heard someone take a machete to a chalkboard. Not cool man. Not cool.

(Track 9) Eclipse(feat. Henry Rollins)
Well once again they managed to destroy the background vocals of the original and add more vocal autotune that make Attack Attack! looks like Bob Dylan. Well this was NOT listenable.

The Bottom Line: Well to be honest, they managed to murder one of the greatest albums of all time. I have no idea whose idea it was to remake something that quite frankly didn't need to be redone. It's almost like they were trying too hard to be weirder than Pink Floyd. Well Flaming Lips and Henry Rollins you failed, because you guys didn't seem weird at all. I'm pretty sure I could've made that entire CD on my GameBoy Color.

My first post.

Hi all, this is Josh. Just trying out my first post on blogger! Woo!
Anyways movies and music critiquing is coming your way!
I'm trying my best to decide what my first album or movie to critique should be.
